Leather scissors case VIDEO TUTORIAL
INSTRUCTIONS:
STEP 1:
Download the free leather scissors case pattern above and trim the excess.
It is designed to fit most 23cm / 9″ tailor scissors. However to make sure it will actually fit yours , fold the paper pattern and wrap it around your scissors as you would the actual case. Make it fits comfortably and that there is room for the seam allowance and the thickness of the leather. You can adjust the pattern slightly by hand or by printing it slightly larger or smaller.
STEP 2:
Place the pattern on top of the right side of the leather and draw around it with a marker. Mark the placement of the snaps as well.
STEP 3:
Cut out the leather piece.
STEP 4:
Turn the leather piece around with the wrong side facing up and fold the right side to the left. Use a couple of clips to hold it in place. Do not use pins!
STEP 5:
Sew along the left side only using a 1/4 “(6mm) seam allowance using a longer stitch length – I usually use 3.5.
Leave long tails at the start and finish and do not backtack.
Do not stitch the top closed.
STEP 6:
Make knots at the back of the scissors sheath and trim the tails.
STEP 7:
Mark the placement of the snap at the top and attach the male plastic snap button.
TIP: You can use velcro dots instead of snaps
STEP 8:
Insert the scissors in the case and fold the top with the snap down. Mark the position of the female snap.
Alternatively you can use the snap placement as suggested in the pattern.
STEP 9:
Remove the scissors and attach the female snap button.
Voila! Your leather scissors pouch is ready to protect your precious scissors.
