Leather Card Holder VIDEO TUTORIAL

INSTRUCTIONS:

STEP 1:

Print off the free pattern we provide, then cut out the three pieces that form the card wallet.

STEP 2:

Place the pattern pieces in the most economical way on the wrong side of a piece of leather or faux leather. Remember the one piece needs to be cut twice

STEP 3:

Hold the pattern in place with one hand and trace around the edge of each piece with a pen.

STEP 4:

Use a rotary cutter and self-healing cutting mat to cut the straight edges of the pieces.

STEP 5:

For the rounded corners and the inner hole in the card wallet use an X-Acto knife, (precision cutting knife/craft knife) on the self-healing cutting board to get precise edges.

STEP 6:

Place the one full piece right side up on your worktop, and above it the matching paper pattern piece, then pressing hard with a pen or pencil mark the where you will place the piece with the hole cut in it. Once you are happy with placement then use a Q-tip, cotton ear bud and white leather glue to apply glue to the edges of the wrong side of the piece with the hole.

STEP 7:

Apply the glued piece to the base, clip in place and then press with a roller to ensure the glue attaches well. Set aside to dry.

STEP 8:

Take the other backing piece and apply glue to the cut out front piece, on the edges and press firmly to attach to the base piece. Clip together, press with a roller and set aside.

STEP 9:

Go back to the first section you glued with the hole in it, and head over to your sewing machine and stitch 1/8 of an inch (3 mm) from the edge around three sides, leaving the one with the indentation to easily remove a card open. Backtack at the start and finish.

STEP 10:

Go to the piece with the pocket front and stitch around that piece on three sides, leaving only the top open, backtacking  at the start and finish.

STEP 11:

Place the two wrong sides of the leather facing each other, so you have the pouch on one side and the slip in pocket on the other. Clip in place.

STEP 12:

Backtack at the start and finish when you stitch around three sides, leaving the top open to create an extra card pocket.

All that remains to do is load your most important cards – like drivers licence, credit and perhaps a debit card. This is all you need for a night out when you don’t want to carry a heavy wallet with all your loyalty cards and change. The leather card holder can slip into a pocket unobtrusively leaving you pretty much hands free to enjoy the evening.
